Pruzbul!!!
This
year concludes Shmittah. In order to collect debts after Rosh
Hashanah one must declare before three adult Jewish males before
Rosh Hashanah “I hereby transfers all debts that are owed to me
to you as a Beit Din (Jewish court) so that I may collect them
at any time I desire.” Or use the online form at

before Rosh Hashana. A full explanation of Pruzbul can be found
at the above site.
Hatarat Nedarim is Monday morning
The
blessing for candles Monday and Tuesday night is Baruch Atta A-donai
E-lohainu Melech Haolam Asher Kidshanu B’mitzvotav V’tzivanu
L’hadlik Ner Shel Yom Hazikaron. The blessing Baruch Atta A-donai
Elohainu Melech Haolam Shehechiyanu V’kiymanu Vhigyanu Lizman
Hazeh is then made.
After services Monday night we all wish each other L’shanah
Tovah Tikatev V’teichateim. May you be written and sealed for a
good year.
The
Challah is dipped in honey rather than salt.
After
eating the Challah, pieces of apple are dipped in honey. The
blessing Baruch Atta A-donai E-lohainu Melech Haolam Boray P’ree
Haeitz is made and the special prayer Yehi Ratzon Milffanecha
Shet’chadesh Aleinu Shana Tovah Umetukah (May it be your will to
renew upon us a sweet and good year) is said before eating the
apple.
Tashlich is said the Tuesday afternoon. The custom is to go to a
natural body of water with fish and say the Tashlich prayer,
symbolizing throwing our sins into the ocean.
When candles are lit on Tuesday night, it is desirable to have a
new fruit on the table that has not been eaten this season. When
the blessing Shehechiyanu is made, one should have in mind that
the blessing applies to the new fruit as well as the holiday.
The new fruit should be on the table during Kiddush, and be
eaten immediately thereafter.
Havdalah is made on Wednesday night, but the blessings on the
spices and on the candle are omitted.
Thursday is the fast of Gedaliah.
Have a wonderful and sweet year!!

As the coming year is a Hakhel year, special emphasis should be
placed on including as many Jews as possible in services and
