Demographics: As of the
2000, there were 14,579 people, 5,460 households, and
3,652 families residing in the city. The
population density was 1,477.5 people per square
mile (570.3/km˛). There were 5,908 housing units at an
average density of 598.7 per square mile (231.1/km˛).

them, 44.6% were
married couples living together, 16.8% had a female
householder with no husband present, and 33.1% were
non-families. 26.3% of all households were made up of
individuals and 5.9% had someone living alone who was 65
years of age or older. The average household size was
2.62 and the average family size was 3.18.

spread out with 28.0% under the age of 18, 12.3% from 18
to 24, 31.8% from 25 to 44, 19.4% from 45 to 64, and
8.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age
