DEVORAH'S INDIAN TURNIP PICKLE RECIPE 
 
INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 1/2 lbs + Turnip
  • 1½ Cup Mustard Oil
  • 15 Cloves Garlic
  • 1 Cup Vinegar
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 20 Dry Dates
  • 10 tsp Seedless Raisins
  • 2 tsp Peppercorn
  • 4 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp Onions Seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • Salt, for Taste
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Fry in a non-stick pan all spices and grind them together along with sugar.
  2. Grind the garlic into paste.
  3. Grind separately dates and raisins with a little vinegar.
  4. Peel the outer skin of turnips and cut them into thick round slices
  5. Rub salt on the turnips and keep for 8 hours in a colander.
  6. Fry the garlic paste in heated oil till golden brown.
  7. Add turnips and fry till dry.
  8. Add vinegar, spices, dates and raisins’ mixture.
  9. Place the pickle in an airtight jar in a cool place and use after 6 days
