Sunday morning, September 18, 2005, Mayor Michael Bloomberg was
honored at the annual NCFJE breakfast. The presentation was made by
Rabbi Shea Hecht to a packed ballroom in the Skyline Hotel.
Hundreds of people cheered as Rabbi Hecht said, "Mayor Bloomberg,
we want you four more years because we are selfish. We know that you are
good for us, our children, our community and the city. You continued to
break records in the area of safety by bringing crime down 20% in the
past four years."
Rabbi Hecht then praised Mayor Bloomberg's dedication to education.
When Mayor Bloomberg accepted the honor, he praised NCFJE for their good
work in education and social services. He spoke about the partnership
with organizations like NCFJE and the city which make NYC the greatest
city in the world.
Mayor Bloomberg said even those families that send to private school or
religious schools understand the importance of a good public school
system because these are the children of our future. (Pictures
